What is a Multi Cap Fund?

Ever wish you could have a bit of everything in your investment portfolio? That's what Multi Cap funds offer—exposure to a mix of companies, from industry giants to emerging stars. This balance between relative stability and growth potential creates a well-rounded portfolio that may thrive in different market conditions. Let’s take a closer look at what multi cap funds are and how they work.

Multi cap funds invest in equity and equity-related instruments across companies of varying market capitalizations. These funds provide diversification by investing in small-cap, mid-cap, and large-cap companies, making them suitable for investors with different risk appetites. With a broad scope for investment opportunities, multi cap funds are a strong option for potential wealth creation.

According to SEBI regulations, multi cap funds must allocate at least 25% of their assets each to large-cap, mid-cap, and small-cap stocks, making 75% of the allocation fixed. The remaining 25% can be flexibly invested based on the fund manager's strategy. For example:

• Large-cap focused multi cap funds primarily invest in large-cap stocks.

• Small/mid-cap focused multi cap funds primarily invest in small and mid-cap stocks, with at least 25% allocated to large-cap stocks.

  • Min Investment 1,000

Multi Cap vs flexi cap funds:

Both multi cap and flexi cap funds invest across market capitalizations, but the key difference is in their flexibility. Who Should Invest in Multi Cap Equity Funds?

Multi cap mutual funds carry a higher risk than large-cap funds due to their exposure to small and mid-cap stocks, which introduces some degree of volatility.
